White mushrooms prevent many types of cancer from growing
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – White button mushrooms have been shown to have certain chemical properties that can significantly slow down the progression of prostate cancer.
The details are presented at the World Endocrine Society’s Virtual Conference, and the research was performed on mice. Androgens are a type of male sex hormone that promotes prostate cancer cells. They attach to the androgen receptor and activate it, ”said Xiao Chiang Wang, head of the study and affiliated with the Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope. White buttons, he says, inhibit the action of mushroom androgens.
Earlier, scientists fed white mushroom powder to patients with a second attack of prostate cancer. This showed that the powder reduced the prostate cancer-promoting antigen (PSA), as evidenced by their lack of blood. No side effects have been reported. Now the whole process is beginning to be understood more.
According to scientists, mushroom powder for only six days reduced the level of PSA in mice and the results are very clear.
