The mother’s voice can ease the baby’s pain
Bologna, Italy: Motherhood is an invaluable gift of nature and now research has shown that the mother’s voice also reduces the child’s sense of distress.
Babies born before the normal gestation period are separated from the mother and kept in incubators and other care for several days or even weeks. This is how the mother separates after the baby is born. Now with the help of medicines, injections and tubes, the child becomes unwell with pain for which various painkillers are given. Now, if the mother is brought to the baby during this time and they talk to her, then the pain of the newborn is lessened.
A team of scientists at the University of Geneva has conducted a study in collaboration with the University of Valle de Osta and the Parini Hospital in Italy. The bottom line is that when the mother talks to the baby, her oxytocin levels rise, which reduces the pain. Oxytocin is a hormone that plays an important role in both attachment and stress. In this way, the doctor and the hospital administration can provide a natural cure for the mother’s blocker pain.
Earlier, another study found that the presence of the mother and father can also alleviate the child’s pain. The experiment took 20 children from Parini Hospital who had opened their eyes to the world before their time. All the mothers were with their children when a few drops of blood were taken from the heel for the test. The mothers were also told to say something in front of the child.
In this experiment, three tests were performed for three days. The first children were vaccinated without the mother, the second day the mother talked to the child while injecting the child and the third day the mother sang in a clear voice in front of the child. The mother was told to sing for five minutes before, during and after the injection. Blood tests were taken at all three stages.
In addition, a scale of pain was used in children, called the ‘pre-term pain profile’ (PIPP), based on their green and physical appearance. It has degrees from zero to 21. The video of the child’s face was shown to the specialist while he was bleeding. But the voice was silenced so that the expert could not hear the mother’s voice and the wrong decision could not be made.
It was found that in case of disappearance of the mother, the rate of PIPP was noted to be 4.5 and as soon as the mother spoke to the child, the rate of PIPP decreased by three degrees which is unusual.
This shows that the mother’s voice is a natural painkiller for the baby.
