More than 142,000 intestinal viruses discovered
LONDON: American and British scientists have discovered 142,809 ‘phage viruses’ in the human intestine following a global study, at least 50 per cent of which were previously unknown to us.
For this study, 28,060 collections (microbiomes) of human intestines were obtained from 28 countries on 6 continents and their genetic analysis was performed.
