Eat walnuts to lower cholesterol and keep the heart strong
Spain: Although scientific research shows that eating walnuts is very beneficial to the heart, brain and blood system, and now more research has come out in this regard, which summarizes that eating half a cup of walnuts a day increases the risk of heart disease and cholesterol. Decreases by about 8.5%.
That’s why older people should include walnuts in their diet. In this regard, the Spanish hospital clinic Barcelona recruited 628 people and asked half of them to eat walnuts daily and this process continued for two years. Two years later, it was found that eating walnuts significantly reduced the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) protein, which is called harmful cholesterol. If LDL cholesterol exceeds its limits, blood clots can begin to form, leading to increased rates of stroke and heart disease.
Interestingly, people who made it a habit to eat half a cup of walnuts a day for two years not only had a decrease in LDL particles in their blood, but also the finer LDL particles. According to the American Heart Association, walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids that protect the heart. Thus, eating walnuts can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to eight and a half percent.
