Discovery of health hazardous ingredients in common cosmetics
Indiana: Makeup products are common with almost every woman, but these lipsticks, mascaras and foundations are full of harmful chemicals and can cause many diseases.
Scientists at the University of Notre Dame examined 200 commonly used makeup products in Canada and the United States: lipstick, foundation, mascara, eye and eyebrow makeup. They contain abnormal amounts of pre-polyfluorovascular substance (PFAS). It is a toxic chemical that can cause many diseases, including cancer.
Graham Paisley, a professor of physics at the University of Notre Dame, did the research. “It’s a multi-billion dollar industry whose products are used by millions of women every day. Many makeup products are applied around the eyes and lips where they can be absorbed and penetrate the body. It should be noted that PFAS is harmful not only to humans but also to the environment as it continues to exist, ”said Professor Graham.
PFAS has been used in packaging utensils, clothing and fast food. They are also called “everlasting chemicals” that do not run out naturally. They even pollute the natural environment and water resources.
Makeup contains large amounts of fluorine and PFAS, which can and will cause kidney cancer, blood pressure, thyroid disease, and low birth weight and safety toxins in children.
Experts tested 60 lip makeup products that found 55% more fluorine. Fluorine was noted in 62% of the 42 types of liquid lipstick. Of the 43 types of foundations, 25 contained fluorine. The most fluorine waterproof mascara is noted.
Experts also say that more research is needed in this regard so that the dangerous chemical components present in make-up can be thoroughly examined.
