Advances in the treatment of snail venom-induced malaria
Florida: Malaria spread by Plasmodium falciparum is very severe and deadly. Research on the venom of a sea snail for such a disease has now yielded encouraging results.
Some malaria parasites are not cured by drugs. Severe malaria attacks 500 million people each year and kills 400,000.
The venom of a conch shell commonly found in the oceans has paved the way for the treatment of malaria. Schmidt College of Florida Atlantic University and other institutions have said that sea snail venom can cure malaria.
