Advances in the treatment of cancer with hot magnetic beads with the help of MRI
Berkeley, California: The most important thing in cancer treatment is that the best results are obtained when the drug is applied directly to the tumors or cancer cells. Now, with the help of MRI, scientists have come up with a unique way to eradicate cancer by placing magnetic particles on cancerous boils and heating them.
The procedure is simpler and less painful for the patient himself. This technology has been dubbed ‘Minimal Invoice Image Guided Ablation’. In this, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) involves the pushing of fine magnetic beads to the site of the tumor. They can then be heated before the floor and used as a weapon against cancer.
According to a report published in Advanced Science, it has been tested on mice by Professor Mark Lathjo of the University of California. It has been described as a highly accurate treatment in which microscopic magnetic particles are inserted into the body and controlled externally with the help of an MRI machine. After heating in this way, they kill the cancer cells but do no harm to the healthy cells. These fine particles are called thermosides with a maximum thickness of 2 mm.
Another scientist, Professor Rebecca Baker, called it a regular therapy. Because MRI imaging reveals detailed images of the inside of the body, experts can see magnetic beads moving forward. No tearing is required for this. Most importantly, it is designed to treat brain cancer, which is no less of a challenge.
The results have been encouraging for rats. However, trials on humans can still take years.
